The Large Trullo

The Large Trullo is a classic “Trullo Salentino” or more correctly expressed a pajara, a building of dry stone which have been used a long time ago by the local farmers as a refuge. The restoration of the original building ended in April 2013 and in chronological order it is the third accommodation estabilished in the Residence degli Ulivi situated on the top of a hill over the sandy beaches of the Marina of Pescoluse, locality Scucchi (Municipality of Salve), approximately 10 km west of Santa Maria di Leuca, at the southernmost point of Salento and at the beginning of the Ionic coast.
Starting from the ancient original building with its old bread oven and two metre thick walls which helped to maintain a mild temperature during the winter and a fresh one during the summer, the Large Trullo is now equipped with a living area (living room) on the ground floor and a wooden loft with the sleeping area. The kitchen and the dining area are outside the Trullo under a roof as well as a complete bathroom with a shower and a washing machine. There is an external shower with a lot of warm water too because of the solar energy. The Large Trullo can host up to 4/5 people considering the double bed upstairs in the wooden loft under the stone dome of the Trullo, a sofa bed and a couch in the living room which offer the possibility to have three sleeping places. From the area of the Trullo and especially from its terrace you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view on the marvellous landscape of Salento and its crystal–like sea.
The furniture is new and modern and the building has got Wi–Fi, air conditioning cold/warm, dish–washer and micro wave. A large and easily accessible parking is situated near the Trullo as well as a stone barbecue and all of this is in midst a 8000 square meters private olive orchard around the building. Its secluded location grants complete quietness and privacy.
All the accommodations and their systems have been constructed according to security laws and there is no danger in using them properly. The water of the reservoir is drinkable but we recommend boiling it for alimentary use. The Trullo Grande will be furnished clean with bed–linen and towels. The weekly change is included in the price. Pets are welcome if they don’t disturb the neighbourhood.

For all those who want additional information on the various houses of the Residence, there are some reviews written by our guests over the years.
